Attention all Financial Aid Students: You can charge books to your student account so long as the financial aid you receive is more than your student changes OR you have been awarded a scholarship that covers the cost of your books. If you are using financial aid, you can purchase books up to the amount you have left over on your account. For example, if your charges are $1,500 and you are receiving $2,000 in financial aid, you can charge up to $500 in books. IF your financial aid file is complete, you can go straight to the SSC Bookstore with your student ID and charge your books. If you have any questions, you are welcome to stop by the financial aid office first.

Textbook Return Policy

Under certain circumstances it may be necessary for a student to return a textbook before or after classes begin. Normally these circumstances would result from either a student’s total withdrawal from college, dropping a class, or by the college canceling a class. Students should be aware of the following guidelines when requesting a refund for textbooks:

1. It is the student’s responsibility to assist in the selection of textbooks by bringing their current class schedule with them to the bookstore. Students should keep their bookstore receipts until the end of the semester or until the bookstore repurchases the books. Receipts must accompany any returned book.

2. A completed “Withdrawal or Course Change Form” and the textbook must be presented to the bookstore manager for consideration of a textbook refund.

3. The bookstore manager has the authorization to refuse or to reduce the repurchase price for any book that is torn, worn, abused, or not needed for the course in subsequent semesters.

Textbook Buy-back

Textbooks may be sold back to the bookstore at the end of each semester. The repurchase price will be 33% of the book’s purchased price if the book is in good condition. Textbooks with price tags removed will be re-purchased at 33% of the used book price.

Take Advantage of the SSC Textbook Rental Program

SSC Bookstore has a new rental book program.  These rental books are funded by the US Department of Education FIPSE grant awarded to Seminole State College rental program at the Seminole State College Bookstore, your institutionally owned and operated bookstore.

Why rent my textbooks?

  • Reduces the cost of the textbooks/course materials for students, as the cost is a significant concern for college students throughout the country.
  • Provides an alternative textbook option, in addition to other options such as new and used books.
  • Assists with compliance with The Higher Education Opportunity Act.
  • Increases awareness among faculty about the benefiting of multi-term textbook adoption commitments, benefiting both students who rent and students who sell back books.
  • Supports environmental responsibility by encouraging the re-use of textbooks.

Follow these 3 easy steps

Step 1:  Visit the SSC Bookstore with your SSC Photo ID and look for titles labeled "Rental".

Step 2:  Check Out: Take the rental textbooks to any register and then review and sign the student rental agreement form.

Step 3:  At the end of the semester return your rented titles to any register at the bookstore by the date specified on your student rental agreement.
