Congresswoman Bice Meets with Students and Community Leaders at SSC
U.S. Congresswoman Stephanie Bice visited Seminole State College on Aug. 22. She was greeted by three freshman President’s Leadership Class students from Seminole. The students made Congresswoman Bice an honorary member of PLC and presented her with a welcome package, including the 2023 PLC “Together We Grow” t-shirt. SSC Announces New President’s Leadership Class
Seminole State College has selected 21 freshmen students for Class XVI of the President’s Leadership Class. PLC is a two-year scholarship program created to help students develop leadership skills and provide personal and professional growth opportunities.
The freshmen met for an orientation session at the College prior to the start of classes. They, along with their parents, attended a reception held at the Jasmine Moran Children’s Museum on Monday, August 21, where College administrators and Eileen Castle, the Executive Director of the museum, spoke.

Students Complete President’s Leadership Class Program at SSC
Twelve Seminole State College sophomores in the Seminole State College President’s Leadership Class received awards recognizing their completion of two years in the program on May 1. Members enjoyed a luncheon with SSC President Lana Reynolds and Director of Community Relations and PLC sponsor Kim Pringle to celebrate the occasion. SSC President’s Leadership Class Joins in Community Clean Up
The Seminole State College President’s Leadership Class joined organizations across Seminole to lend a hand with the Community Clean Up on April 19 in observance of Earth Day. Prior to their volunteer work, Assistant Professor of Life Sciences Dr. Noble Jobe spoke to students about sustainability.
SSC President’s Leadership Class Tours Port of Catoosa
Members of the Seminole State College President’s Leadership Class toured the Port of Catoosa, northeast of Tulsa on March 28. The shipping complex and 2,500-acre industrial park has an estimated $300 million economic impact on the state. The complex hosts over 71 companies and employs more than 2,600 Oklahomans. Millions of tons of bulk freight are moved by barge each year through the Port of Catoosa, which is one of the largest, most inland river-ports in the United States.
PLC students also stopped by the Blue Whale of Catoosa, a waterfront attraction along Route 66, just east of the town of Catoosa.
SSC President’s Leadership Class Tours Okla. Bureau of Narcotics
The Seminole State College President’s Leadership Class toured the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs in Oklahoma City on March 9. Mark Woodward (left), OBN Public Information and Education Officer, and Agent Anthony Moore (right) spoke with the students about a wide array of activities the OBN tackles, including the monitoring of marijuana grow operations in the state, safe disposal of prescription and illegal substances, as well as various training for officers within OBN.
Agent Shaun Manes (left) demonstrated how OBN utilizes drones in investigations. PLC students also learned about the K9 program and heard from OBN Director Donnie Anderson, OBN Agents Anthony Moore, Dallas Lang, Attorney General Office Agents Christopher Culbreath and Brent Green.
SSC Delegation Attends Higher Ed Day
A large delegation of campus and community leaders representing Seminole State College attended Higher Education Day at the Capitol in Oklahoma City, Tuesday, Feb. 14. The event, sponsored by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, is held annually to demonstrate the value and importance of higher education in the state.
