SSC Nursing Division Holds Health Fair

The Seminole State College Nursing Division hosted a health fair on Nov. 30 in Tanner Hall on campus. Students enrolled in the Leadership in Nursing course, taught by Professor Ann Benson, were stationed at informational booths. Nursing students provided information on diabetes, hypertension and many other subjects. It also served as an opportunity to provide other SSC students more information about the College’s nursing program.

SSC Leadership Class Makes Large Donation to Food Pantry

The Seminole State College Leadership Development Class poses with recent donations of dozens of canned and packaged food goods.

The Seminole State College Leadership Development Class recently donated dozens of canned and packaged food goods to the SSC Food Pantry. From Nov. 8 to Nov. 21, the class organized and collected donations. The pantry is overseen by Dr. Bill Knowles, Vice President for Student Affairs.

The Leadership class is taught by Professor of History and former Phi Theta Kappa advisor Marta Osby and is comprised of students in the President’s Leadership Class as well as other exceptional students. “It is so nice to have such a wonderful organization like the SSC Food Pantry to help our students. What a great team effort at SSC to bring assistance to our students. A special thanks to all of the students, faculty, administration, and staff that helped with this meaningful project,” Osby said

SSC Staff Host Chili Cookoff

The Seminole State College Classified Staff and Professional Staff Councils hosted a Chili Cookoff on Friday, Nov. 18 at the Raymond Harber Field House. The event served as a scholarship fundraiser that is awarded to an SSC student from the Classified Staff Council each year. Trophies were awarded in three categories. The Most Unique Chili Award went to GEAR UP Coordinator Erica McCaughey, the Spiciest Award went to Custodian Christie Mckee and the Best All Around went to STEM Office Manager Dana Denwalt. SSC Soccer Team Returns Home Following National Tournament Play

The Seminole State College women’s soccer team recently competed in the NJCAA National Soccer Championship in Evans, Georgia. The team was eliminated from the tournament following a close loss to Polk State College with a final score of 3-1 on Nov. 15. The Trojans ended the season with an overall record of 18-4 and a conference record of 13-1. The team held a perfect 8-0 record at home this season. The team is led by Head Coach Dan Hill and Assistant Coach Jade Dewbre.

Reynolds Named to 55 Over 55 Inspiring Oklahomans Inaugural Class

Seminole State College President Lana Reynolds was joined by friends of the College at a reception Nov. 4 honoring the inaugural class of “55 Over 55” Inspiring Oklahomans.

The program was sponsored and coordinated by ion Oklahoma Magazine to recognize individuals who are investing in the future growth of the State and involved in projects that are improving the lifestyles for all Oklahomans.

SSC students, employees, community supporters, family and friends lined the walls of the union to wish the team well as they head to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament in Evans, Georgia. The Trojans will face Iowa Western on Monday, Nov. 14 at 4:30pm Central Standard Time.

SSC Library to Host Holiday Event for Students

Seminole State College will host its ‘Twas the Night Before Finals holiday event at the Boren Library on Dec. 4 from 3 to 8 p.m.

Students will be able to participate in several holiday activities, such as cookie decorating, making Christmas ornaments, designing holiday cards and watching a Christmas movie. There will also be free snacks for students to enjoy.

SSC Hosts Business Skills Seminar

Members of the Seminole State College chapter of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) held a business skills seminar on October 27 in the Utterback Ballroom on campus. The event was attended by more than 100 students from local schools, including Seminole High School, Seminole Junior High, Butner, Konowa, and Prague. Members of the Seminole Youth Council attended as well.

SSC Women’s Soccer score at-large bid to NJCAA D1 Soccer Championship

The Seminole State Women’s Soccer team, alongside faculty, staff, and fans gathered to watch the at-large selection show presented by the National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA) in the Seminole State College Student Union on Tuesday, November 8, 2022. During the selection show, it was announced via livestream that the Trojans received an at-large bid for the 2022 NJCAA D1 Women’s Soccer Championship. This year’s championship will be hosted at Blanchard Woods Park in Evans, Georgia from November 13 – 19, 2022.
