Holiday Food Drive
Seminole State College’s Leadership Development Class collected non-perishable food items for the Salvation Army before the holidays. All donated items were recently delivered to the Salvation Army and will be distributed throughout Seminole County for the Thanksgiving season. SSC Professor of History Marta Osby, who serves as the instructor for the course, said, “This is such an important project because it provides food to families in need during the holidays and beyond. It is a great opportunity for our students specifically, because it allows them to see how these vital contributions can impact the lives of those most in need.”
PLC Visit Food Bank 2018
Members of Seminole State College’s President’s Leadership Class volunteered at the Oklahoma Regional Food Bank in Oklahoma City on Nov. 1. The students prepared packages of food that will be distributed to participating schools around the state. The bags contained approximately 10 different foods designed to provide nutrition and calories for chronically hungry children over the weekend. The group prepared enough food to fill 2,166 backpacks, with a total of 6,016 meals for hungry children. Continue reading “PLC Visit Food Bank 2018”
SSC Women’s Soccer Team Takes Second Place at Regional Tournament
The Seminole State College Women’s Soccer team finished in second place at the NJCAA Region II Finals in Miami, Oklahoma last week. SSC Women’s Soccer Coach Dan Hill was recognized as Region II Coach of the Year for the team’s outstanding season play. SSC Welcomes Families on Trick or Treat Trail
Several hundred kids and family members participated in Seminole State College’s 5th Annual Trick-or-Treat Trail on campus October 30. Tables were set up along the walking trails of Henderson Park with various SSC teams, organizations, students and employees who passed out candy to trick-or-treaters.
