Kay Edwards Memorial Scholarship Recipients Announced

The Seminole State College Professional Staff Council recently awarded the Kay Edwards Memorial Scholarship to current students Adley Dill and Kristen Casteel. The scholarship will provide each student $500 toward their summer semester at SSC. Dill is a health science major and plans to complete the College’s nursing program. Casteel is a social sciences major and plans to transfer to the University of Oklahoma after graduating from SSC to pursue a degree in counseling. Utterback Inducted into Hall of Fame

Seminole State College President Emeritus Dr. Jim Utterback was honored Saturday with induction into the Southwestern Oklahoma State University Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame. Utterback, who served as President of SSC from 1997 to 2017, received a bachelor’s degree from SWOSU in 1978 and a master’s in 1979. Utterback (far right) was recognized with five other former Southwestern students. Pictured left to right are: Thomas E. Weichel of Colony; Dr. Carl Hook of Norman; Dr. Gina Scott Ligon of Papillion, Nebraska; and Kelli Litsch of Weatherford. The late Jim Litsch of Thomas was posthumously inducted.

 

SSC to Host Region II Softball Tournament

Seminole State College will host the NJCAA Region II Softball Tournament May 9-12 at the College’s softball complex. Eight teams from across the state will compete in the tournament. Seminole State College, Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College, Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa, Carl Albert State College, Rose State College, Eastern Oklahoma State College, and Western Oklahoma State College have secured their spots, while Connors State College and Northern Oklahoma College-Enid vie for the eighth seed.
