SSC Board of Regents Approve Bids for Renovation Project

The Seminole State College Board of Regents reviewed bids for the institution’s natatorium renovation project and made updates to the employee policy manual regarding compensation at their meeting on Aug. 23.

Prior to the discussion of business items, President Lana Reynolds spoke about personnel changes, reported on enrollment numbers and presented SSC’s 22-23 Annual Report publication to members of the Board. The Annual Report encapsulates the achievements, milestones, community partnerships and endeavors undertaken by the College over the past year. SSC Board of Regents Approves Employee Pay Raises

The Seminole State College Board of Regents approved a salary increase for all full-time employees, alongside the budget for the upcoming fiscal year at their meeting on June 15.

During the meeting, President Lana Reynolds provided an update on personnel changes, end of the academic year campus activities and sports teams’ postseason performance.

Pitts Reappointed to SSC Board of Regents

Ryan Pitts, the senior attorney and owner of the Law Offices of Ryan H. Pitts, P.C. in Holdenville, has been reappointed by Governor Kevin Stitt to serve on the Seminole State College Board of Regents.

The reappointment was confirmed by the Oklahoma State Senate Education Committee on May 17 and sent to the Oklahoma State Senate for final approval. The nomination was carried by Senator Grant Green (R-District 28).

Members of the SSC Board of Regents are appointed for seven-year terms. Pitts’ term as a regent will conclude on July 1, 2030. The Regents serve as the College’s governing body and have the supervision and management responsibilities for the College.

Pitts was initially appointed by Governor Stitt in July of 2020. For the 2022-2023 academic year, he is serving as Chair of the SSC Board of Regents.

He and his family make their home in Wewoka, and in addition to his law practice, he also serves as a municipal judge for the cities of Holdenville and Wewoka.

“Ryan Pitts has been a great addition to the Board, and an active supporter of the College. His insight and involvement in the surrounding communities are invaluable. We look forward to continuing our work with him,” President Lana Reynolds said.

SSC Board of Regents Approves Bid on Cooling Tower at Special Meeting

The Seminole State College Board of Regents approved a bid for a replacement cooling tower for the Roesler Residential Learning Center at their special meeting on Nov. 9.

The stainless-steel, closed-circuit cooling tower will be installed by Hunter Mechanical & Controls. The project cost of $115,125 will be covered with Title XIII funds. Due to fluctuation in construction and manufacturing costs, the Board wanted to address the bid before it expired.

Board members present at the meeting were Chair Ray McQuiston, Marci Donaho, Kim Hyden, Curtis Morgan and Ryan Pitts. The next regularly scheduled meeting will take place on Dec. 9.

SSC Board of Regents Approve New Emergency Alert System

The Seminole State College Board of Regents met Oct. 21 to review the College’s annual external audit report and ratify the purchase of a new emergency alert system.

The meeting opened with a review of the College’s recent expenditures by Vice President for Fiscal Affairs Kristie Newby. Then SSC President Lana Reynolds presented her President’s Report, which included an update on the College’s personnel changes and information about campus activities.

Morgan Reappointed to SSC Board of Regents

Seminole County Resident Curtis Morgan has been reappointed by Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt to serve on the Seminole State College Board of Regents. The appointment was confirmed by the Oklahoma State Senate Education Committee on May 12 using video conferencing software and sent to the Oklahoma State Senate for final approval. The nomination was carried by Senator Joe Newhouse (R-Broken Arrow). Morgan’s new seven-year term as a Regent will conclude on July 1, 2027.
