SSC to Offer Yoga Class in August

Seminole State College will offer a lunchtime “Desk-Jockey Yoga” class from Aug. 2 to Aug. 9. The class focuses on relaxing, refreshing, and undoing some of the damage caused by sitting in front of a computer at home or at work. Sitting for long periods of time may impact shoulders, the upper back, and chest. As people fatigue, often their shoulders roll forward, their upper back rounds, and the muscles in the front of their chest tighten. This can lead to shoulder pain, jaw tightness, and tension headaches. Many people who work in an office environment experience tight hamstrings, tighter hips, and a sore neck and lower back pain, which is one of the most common sources of chronic pain in the U.S.

The instructor, Delinda Curtis M.Ed., is certified in Vinyasa, Yin, Hatha, and Myofascia Release. Attendees are welcome to bring a water bottle and wear comfortable clothes. Mats will be provided, but attendees are welcome to bring their own. Yoga class will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday the week of August 2; Monday through Thursday the week of August 9. The class meets in Room 115 of the Haney Center, located on Highway 9.

The cost is $65 for all eight sessions. You can register online at: sscok.edu, click on “Schedules” then select “Register for PSNC Community Classes.” Space is limited.
