Seminole State College held an N95 mask fitting for employees Thursday afternoon and will hold a second session on Jan. 13 in the Enoch Kelly Haney Center’s Utterback Ballroom. The masks were made available to all employees through a second round of COVID-19 federal funds dispersed to the College in late 2020.
Trained medical personnel are used to properly fit the masks. AllianceHealth Seminole provided personnel to assist with SSC’s project to provide employees wanting the N95 masks. Candance Moya, a Respiratory Therapist with AllianceHealth, fitted masks at the Jan. 7 session. Over 50 employees received masks on the first day of the “fitting.”
N95 masks are protective coverings designed to achieve a very close facial fit and filter 95% of all airborne particles. They are designed for use in high-risk situations. The masks are CDC approved with a National Institute for Occupations Safety and Health number or on the Federal Drug Administration Emergency Use Authorization list.
