Josh Hutton has been named Director of Communications at Seminole State College, following six years as the college’s Communications Coordinator.
Hutton will now represent the college on the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education’s Communicators Council.
Before joining SSC, Hutton built a portfolio as an Arts and Entertainment Feature Writer for the Colorado Springs Independent, the Lead Copywriter for The Oklahoman and the Communications Manager at Epic Charter Schools.
In 2015, he wrote the advertising copy for The Oklahoman’s “Oklahoma Unfolded” brand campaign, which was named Best Online Advertising/Marketing campaign by Editor and Publisher. That same year, he received first place in the Best Idea to Grow Advertising Sales or Retain Advertising Clients category from the International News Media Association for The Oklahoman’s “Small Business VIP Sales Event” campaign. His work has also been recognized with multiple Oklahoma Society of Professional Journalists and Oklahoma College Public Relations Association awards.
SSC’s public relations team won Best of Show at the OCPRA annual conference at the Downstream Resort and Casino in Quapaw in July of 2023. The team’s “Together We Grow” brand campaign, which features interviews with students, alumni, faculty, and community partners, secured awards in three categories. Hutton contributed by writing copy, designing advertising materials and conducting interviews for testimonials, while videos were shot and edited by Web and Multimedia Coordinator Brooks Nickell.
In the spring of 2024, He became a graduate of Class XXII of Leadership Seminole, an eight-week program sponsored by the Seminole Chamber of Commerce.
He is a graduate of Prague High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Central Oklahoma and a Master of Fine Arts degree in creative writing from Oklahoma City University.
