Seminole State College has selected Josh Hutton as its new communications coordinator. Hutton grew up in Sparks and graduated from Prague High School. He has a master’s degree in creative writing from Oklahoma City University and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Central Oklahoma.

Hutton previously worked for Epic Charter Schools, headquartered in Oklahoma City, where he served as the communications manager for nearly two years. Through his efforts in digital, social, print and event marketing, he helped bolster enrollment by more than 40% in both 2016 and 2017.

Prior to his work at Epic, Hutton worked as a copywriter for The Oklahoman. One of his advertising campaigns was named Best Idea to Grow Advertising Sales or Retain Advertising Clients by the International News Media Association in 2015. He is also the recipient of six Oklahoma Society of Professional Journalism awards for news stories and columns he wrote for an array of publications, including The Oklahoma Gazette, University of Central Oklahoma’s The Vista and NakedCity OKC.

Kristin Dunn, Director of Community Relations, said she is excited to welcome Hutton to the SSC team. “In his position, Josh will serve as the day-to-day contact between area media and the college and will be responsible for campus publications. I know he will be a wonderful asset for SSC.”

She also explained that Steven Little, who previously served as the primary contact between area media and the college, has transitioned into a new role as marketing and web coordinator on campus. Little will remain a part of the media relations office and will manage the college’s online presence, including social media, video production, photography and the campus website.
