At their October meeting on Thursday, the Seminole State College Board of Regents approved the annual external audit, the purchase of one passenger bus, the lease of an additional passenger bus and a website privacy policy.
During the President’s Report, Lana Reynolds informed the Board of a variety of campus activities and events including conferences and trainings attended by faculty and staff. She also told them about SSC employees being honored, special outings by students and gave a personnel update.
SSC sophomore and Engineering major Mattie Woods attended the meeting to provide a student’s perspective. She addressed the Board about the positive results of the College’s STEM department.
“With the preparation I’ve received at Seminole State, I’m confident that when I take the next step I’ll be prepared.”
Under the first item of business, the Board approved the FY 18 External Audit Report covering campus operations. Dan Bledsoe, a representative with Finley & Cook Certified Public Accountants, who conducted the audit and attended the Board meeting, commended SSC for a “clean audit.” President Reynolds thanked Bledsoe, as well as SSC Vice President of Fiscal Affairs Tony Crouch and his team for their hard work and cooperation during the audit process.
Under the second action item, the board approved the purchase of a 2015 Goshen G-Force bus. The board also approved a lease agreement with Matran for a 25-passenger bus for the third action item.
“We have an aging motor pool and have had several recent incidents of students being stranded out of town because of breakdowns. The addition of these vehicles to our fleet is important in ensuring the safety of our students,” said President Reynolds.
Under the next item of business, Board members approved SSC’s website data privacy policy. The policy informs SSC website visitors how the College collects and uses their data. This policy was recommended and developed by the college’s media relations office, in concert with policies implemented by other colleges and universities.
Under the consent agenda, the Board approved the 2019-2020 academic calendar, as well as two memorandums of understanding with Gordon Cooper Technology Center for the Physical Therapist Assistant program and the Medical Laboratory Technology program.Board members present at the meeting were: Chair Marci Donaho, Curtis Morgan, Paige Sherry and Kim Hyden. The next SSC Board of Regents meeting is scheduled for Thursday, December 13, 2018.
