State Senator Jason Smalley (R-Stroud) visited Seminole State College on Thursday, October 4. During the stop, he spoke with several college representatives and student leaders to discuss the state of education in Oklahoma and SSC’s future goals. He also took an academic tour of campus.
Smalley stopped in the Boren Library where he visited with students in a Learning Strategies course. He told the students that getting a college degree had a major impact on his life, and enabled him to get jobs that he would have missed out on otherwise. He stressed to the students that education opens doors.
While on campus, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Tom Mills (center) and Assistant Professor of STEM Dr. Noble Jobe (right) showed Senator Smalley (left) around one of several newly redesigned chemistry classrooms inside Tanner Hall.
President Reynolds, who was also present for the campus tour, said,
“We appreciate Senator Smalley taking the time to visit our campus and for his passion for small rural colleges. More importantly, we appreciate him being a champion for education on every level.”
