Seminole residents Bettie Conn and LaVere Bishop have stepped forward to assist Seminole State College with its efforts to establish a Food Pantry on campus.
Both ladies provided unsolicited major donations to support the pantry. Reynolds said Conn and Bishop have been long-time supporters of SSC – giving to numerous fund raising projects for many years.
“It was no surprise to hear from these ladies when they learned about SSC’s efforts to address student food needs. They have helped us repeatedly with educational and cultural programs on campus. Now, they have extended their generosity to help students with basic living needs. We appreciate their help, and their caring attitudes,” President Reynolds said.
Response to the effort to provide free grocery items to students with food insecurity issues has resulted in the College moving up the opening date for the Pantry. A ribbon cutting will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at the David L. Boren Library on campus. The College will continue to gather non-perishable food items and monetary donations made to the SSC Food Pantry.
