First United Bank recently sponsored a food drive contest for area schools to benefit the Seminole State College Food Pantry. Classes at the Academy of Seminole, Wilson Elementary, New Lima, Strother and Varnum competed for the prize of a pizza party provided by First United Bank. A winning class was selected at each school. The classes donated hundreds of food items. The end result was so large that Seminole Chemical and Supplies lent a truck and a couple of employees volunteered to help transport the goods. The donations were dropped off Nov. 22.
