Two Seminole State College employees were recognized for their hard work and dedication during the monthly Seminole Chamber of Commerce Forum on Feb. 9. Assistant Professor of Mathematics Dr. Ricky Streight was honored as “Faculty Member of the Month” and Admissions and Record Specialist Jessica Guinn as “Staff Member of the Month.”
The Seminole Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, along with the Lions Club and Kontoor-Wrangler, recognize SSC employees several times during Forum each year. Individuals are nominated from across the campus and chosen by SSC administrators to receive the honor.
Dr. Streight has worked for SSC at two separate stints of time, totaling 16 years. He served from 1986-2000, first as an instructor and later as an administrator. He returned 21 years later in 2021 to serve as a full-time Assistant Professor of Mathematics. He presently teaches the calculus series, differential equations and also develops and teaches courses in computer science.
He received his bachelor’s degree in Science at the University of Central Oklahoma. He holds four master’s degrees: Strategic Studies from the US Army War College, Computer Science from West Coast University, Data Analysis from Western Governors University and Mathematics from Indiana State University. He received his doctorate in Higher Education at the University of Oklahoma.
Dr. Streight is actively involved in the Military Officers Association, the Reserve Officers Association, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the American Legion, Elks Lodge and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
He and his wife, Sherri, reside in Shawnee. In his spare time he enjoys jogging, golf and working on old computers and electronics.
Guinn has worked at SSC for seven years. In her role, she processes transcript requests and applications, manages student records and helps organize the College’s commencement ceremony.
She received her associate’s degree from SSC and played for the College’s women’s basketball team, the Belles.
Guinn serves on the campus Wellness Committee and the Classified Staff Scholarship Committee.
She resides in Shawnee with her two sons, Jett and Phoenix.
