Seminole State College student-athletes and coaches volunteered their time on Dec. 3 to wrap over 650 gifts for the upcoming Rotary Christmas Dinner. The presents will be distributed at the annual community dinner on Tuesday, December 25 at the Senior Citizen’s Heritage House at 210 W. College. Arrangements may also be made to have the gifts and meals delivered to homes by calling 405-382-3640 prior to Christmas Eve.

SSC’s Night at the Lights a Success
Seminole State College hosted its annual “SSC Night at the Lights” event Dec. 2 at Magnolia Park in Seminole. Local families enjoyed the community Snowman Wonderland Light Display, as well as cookies and hot chocolate provided by the College. Dozens of SSC student athletes manned crafting stations inside the Reynolds Wellness Center, helping children create holiday crafts.

PLC Visit The Gathering Place
he Seminole State College President’s Leadership Class concluded their fall semester with a trip to Tulsa to visit The Gathering Place – a 100 acre park located along the waterfront of the Arkansas River. Land Clearing Begins at Future Site of SSC Sports Complex
Land clearing began Nov. 25 at the future site of the Seminole State College Brian Crawford Memorial Sports Complex. The site is located approximately half of a mile west of the SSC campus on Highway 9, adjacent to the new Seminole High School. Seminole County Commissioner, District II, Tim Porter (left) and Equipment Operator Robert Moon lent a hand in clearing trees and vegetation on the site. First United Bank of Seminole and Area Schools Make Donation to SSC Food Bank
First United Bank recently sponsored a food drive contest for area schools to benefit the Seminole State College Food Pantry. Classes at the Academy of Seminole, Wilson Elementary, New Lima, Strother and Varnum competed for the prize of a pizza party provided by First United Bank. A winning class was selected at each school. The classes donated hundreds of food items. The end result was so large that Seminole Chemical and Supplies lent a truck and a couple of employees volunteered to help transport the goods. The donations were dropped off Nov. 22. PLC Tour Braum’s Bakery & Processing Plant
The Seminole State College President’s Leadership Class traveled to Tuttle, Oklahoma on November 19 to tour the Braum’s Bakery and Processing Plant. PLC students Trevor Martin of Owasso, Creed Watkins of Duncan, Kandyce Davidson of Wewoka, Channing Wortham of Shawnee and Tiffany Maxey of Catoosa stop for a photo after learning how cookies, ice cream cones and bread are made and packaged at the bakery.

SSC Baseball Team Makes Large Donation to Campus Food Pantry
The Seminole State College Baseball team recently donated a truckload of non-perishable food items to the College’s Food Pantry. The Food Pantry is currently holding a food drive from Nov. 7-22 in an effort to bolster supplies for those in need over the holidays.
