Area High School Counselors and Administrators Visit SSC for Workshop

Seminole State College welcomed local high school counselors and administrators to campus for a workshop on March 29. During the event, a panel of SSC employees spoke and answered questions regarding academic placement, transcripts and financial aid. The panel featured (pictured left to right) Assistant Professor of Agriculture Wendy Rich, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Amanda Estey, Registrar Sheila Morris, Director of Financial Aid Edie Cathey and Vice President for Fiscal Affairs Melanie Rinehart.

Native Language Conference to Be Held at SSC

Preserving language is an intricate and vital part of Indigenous communities. Native communities are constantly seeking innovative ways to preserve their language. SSC’s Trick or Treat Trail Draws Large Crowd

Hundreds of little ghosts and goblins (and other fascinating costumed trick-or-treaters) visited Seminole State College to load up on candy Thursday night on the trails in Henderson Park on campus. Faculty, staff and student organizations donated candy and dressed up in Halloween attire to treat community children. The annual event returned after a two-year break due to the COVID pandemic.

Two Seminole State College employees were recognized for their hard work and dedication during the monthly Seminole Chamber of Commerce Forum on Oct. 20. Professor of History and Student Success Coordinator Dr. Steve Bolin was honored as “Faculty Member of the Month” and Admissions Clerk and VA School Certifying Officer Stacey Foster as “Staff Member of the Month.”

SSC Educational Foundation Appoints Three New Trustees

The Seminole State College Educational Foundation welcomed three new trustees during their quarterly meeting on Oct. 19. President and CEO of the Avedis Foundation Dr. Kathy Laster, Director of Kontoor Brands-Wrangler Fulfillment Center Ray McQuiston and Arvest Community Bank President of Shawnee Brian Nave have all been selected to serve as members on the Foundation Board. All were appointed to serve three-year terms.
