Seminole State College Trojan baseball players worked with members of A League of Their Own at the Avedis Foundation Adaptive Field, located within the Brian Crawford Memorial Sports Complex on April 2. The League is a co-ed softball league established to provide an avenue for individuals with cognitive or physical disabilities to play baseball. This year 46 players are participating. The Trojan baseball team volunteered for the group’s season opener, which was delayed to Tuesday due to Monday’s severe weather. The Trojans encouraged and assisted participants as they hit and ran the bases. The League takes to the field on Monday evenings and will continue their season through May 20. SSC Delegation Attends Higher Ed Day
A large delegation of campus and community leaders representing Seminole State College attended Higher Education Day at the Capitol in Oklahoma City Thursday, Feb. 8. The event, sponsored by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education (OSRHE), is held annually to demonstrate the value and importance of higher education in the state.

When Latricia Trammell was inducted into the Seminole State College Alumni Hall of Fame in 2018, someone asked her if she ever thought she’d be a coach in the WNBA when she was still a student at the college. “Without a doubt,” Trammell said. “If sports have taught me anything, it’s that if you do the right thing, work hard—and win, impossible is nothing.”
Trammell, 55, has been a basketball coach for 30 years, but 2023 marked her first season as a head coach in the WNBA. The Dallas Wings named Trammell to the position last June.

FireLake Golf Course recently donated a Kubota RV 900 utility vehicle to the Seminole State College golf program. The vehicle will be used to pick up balls on the driving range for the men’s and women’s golf teams. “We want to thank FireLake Golf Director Chris Chesser for this generous donation. This vehicle will be a great asset to our teams,” SSC Golf Head Coach Ronnie Williamson said. FireLake Golf Course is an enterprise of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation, a sovereign tribal nation located just outside of Shawnee.
SSC Lights Up the Night with Holiday Fun
Seminole State College hosted its annual Night at the Lights event on Dec. 4 at the Reynolds Wellness Center in Seminole. Local families enjoyed the community Snowman Wonderland light display, as well as cookies and hot chocolate provided by the College. Dozens of SSC students manned crafting stations, helping children create crafts.

Seminole State College Women’s Soccer Head Coach Dan Hill thanks attendees at a send-off event on Nov. 10 in the E.T. Dunlap Student Union. SSC students, employees, community supporters, family and friends lined the walls of the union to wish the team well as they head to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament at the Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, Kansas. In their first matchup of the tournament, the Trojans will face Cowley Community College on Nov. 12 at 12:30 p.m.
Prior to the event, soccer supporters Ernie Willis (left) and Mark Schell (right) signed a banner encouraging the team.
Goodie bags were provided by the Student Government Association and Seminole Social’s Sarah Contreras (pictured left) provided nutritional beverages to the team.
The women’s soccer team poses in front of the bus before making their departure. The team enters the tournament as the second seed. This marks their fifth consecutive year to compete in the national tournament.
As the team departed, the bus busted through the banner as the crowd cheered.

The Seminole State College Trojan volleyball team will compete in the Region II Tournament on Oct. 24 at the Raymond Harber Fieldhouse on SSC’s campus. The first matchup of the tournament, Northeastern Oklahoma versus Rose State, will take place at 2 p.m. The winner will face SSC at 4 p.m. The champion of the Region II Tournament will advance to the Plains A & B District Tournament and host the first round on Nov. 1. SSC enters the regional tournament 4-0 in conference play and with an overall win-loss record of 18-15. The team is led by Head Coach Hannah Killian.
