Seminole State College instructors Dr. Linda Goeller and Lynette Gomez joined three other Oklahoma teachers on a recent trip to Belize to work with teachers in Santa Familia and San Ignacio.

Other Oklahoma teachers on the trip included Jenny Goldner from Jay and both Barbie Casey and Sherry Yount from Tahelquah. Dr. Goeller’s husband Mark Goeller also accompanied the group. While there, the team worked with Belizean teachers and students in an effort to develop relationships that could lead to future collaborations on different topics, including STEM projects, reading, literacy and vertical teaming. 

“SSC has helped me to discover the importance of building relationships with our students and colleagues and we wanted to do the same thing during our time in Belize. The real impact we make is through the strength of our relationships,”

said Dr. Goeller. 

The teaching group plans to return to Belize in 2019.
