Seminole State College is currently enrolling for Kids on Campus, a variety of children and youth camps scheduled throughout the summer. The series of activities are scheduled for June 3 through July 25 and will focus on a selection of kid-friendly learning activities.
June camps include Clay Camp, Screen Printing Camp, Picasso Painting Camp, Lego Camp and Minecraft Camp. July camps focus on swimming and include Introduction to Water Skills, Fundamental Aquatic Skills and Swim Stroke Development Skills.
Adventures in Clay Camp is a pottery program offering a hands-on experience for children 7 and older. Kids will learn to shape clay into pinch pots, build unique coil vessels and decorate and glaze clay, among other ceramic techniques. Clay camp will run June 3 through June 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. Cost for the course is $79.
Screen Printing Camp is designed to allow students to embrace their creativity. Kids will make their own masterpiece and then learn how to transfer their design onto a t-shirt, tote bag, apron and picture. Screen Printing camp will run June 3 through June 13 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Cost for the course is $79.
Picasso Painting Camp builds creativity and self-esteem as each student sees his/her artwork through to completion, giving them a strong sense of accomplishment. Students will do a scheduled painting each day. Picasso Painting Camp will run June 10 through June 13 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Cost for the course is $79
Lego Camp is designed for kids who like to create, build and discover using building sets and is ideal for children in grades first through fourth. This camp offers project-based educational play designed to teach principles of math, science, physics, problem solving, critical thinking, fine motor skills, social cooperation and imaginative play. Lego camp will run June 3 through June 13 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. The cost for this course is $79.
Minecraft Camp encourages campers to create, problem solve and work together as a team. This camp is designed to help students gain appreciation for math and science and use creativity and social skills. Both newcomers and experienced Minecraft players are welcome to participate. Minecraft camp will be offered June 3 through June 13 at two different times – 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Cost for the course is $79.
Swim Camp covers a variety of swim levels. Introduction to Water Skills, Fundamental Aquatic Skills and Swim Stroke Development Skills classes are scheduled for July 15 through July 25. Classes will be offered between 4:00 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. in 45 minute slots. Students are assigned a class time depending on their individual swim skill level. Cost of each course is $69 per student. All swim classes will be held in the indoor swimming pool at SSC’s natatorium in the Raymond Harber Field House. The climate-controlled, indoor facility allows instruction regardless of the outside weather conditions and without the dangers of overexposure to the sun.
