SSC Student-Athletes Earn NJCAA Academic Honors

Fifty-eight student-athletes and six athletic teams at Seminole State College have been recognized for their academic achievements this year by the National Junior College Athletic Association. The NJCAA Academic All-American Student Athlete Awards are divided into the three groups based on grade point average – First Team requires a 4.0 GPA, Second Team requires a GPA between 3.80 and 3.99, and Third Team requires a GPA between 3.60 and 3.79.

“Our students’ dedication to excellence both in the classroom and on the field exemplifies the core values of Seminole State College. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and perseverance,” SSC Athletic Director Leslie Sewell said.

SSC student-athletes recognized as First Team are: Joey Allen, Marisol Andrade, Nicole Blue, Carter Bohusklavicky, Holden Bradford, Matt Brown, Ryan Carlisle, Gage Dollins, Aaliyaiah Durden, Brett Griffith, Paola Gutierrez, Akajia Handsom, Kylie Hewitt, Zach Hudspeth, Mackenzie Kauk, Caden Kitchens, Aspen Loafman, Kameryn Lydens, Kiera

McGahee, Payton Owens, Maggie Smith, Elizabeth Taber, Tatum Tallal, Sutton Titsworth, Ashlyn Turner, Kirby VanHaren and Max Zavarzin.

Student-athletes recognized as Second Team are: Paige Baumgartner, Mekhi Betanics, Madilyn Drummond, Josalyn Faulkner, Megan Gilchrist, Alex Ginnis, McKenna Ingram, Trystin Pauls, Noah Smallwoood, Emma Teague, Gabrielle Torres, Chelsea Vilca and Blane Zeplin.

Student-athletes recognized as Third Team are: Landon Alexander, Kylah Barnhill, Grayson Childers, Isabelle Conley, Chase Connor, Gabrielle Deleon, Aynnslee Duffy, Royce Florenzano, Jaycee Foster, Caroline Huber, Kenneth Lupp, Kaylee Madden, Johnny Mahalik, Kayden Murphy, Adrianna O’Daniel, Ashley Perez, Madison Roberts and Lauryn Woodward.

The NJCAA has also recognized six SSC athletic teams for ending their seasons with a 3.0 GPA or above. Softball held a 3.55 GPA, women’s soccer held an overall team GPA of 3.49, the men’s golf team held a 3.18 GPA, women’s volleyball achieved a 3.15 GPA, women’s basketball held a 3.07 GPA and baseball reached a 3.05 GPA.
