Seminole State College hosted a sendoff for the women’s soccer team ahead of their appearance at the NJCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship on Nov. 15 in the E.T. Dunlap Student Union. This year’s national tournament will take place from Nov. 17-23 at the Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, Kansas. The team ended the season ranked No. 3 in the nation with an undefeated record of 18-0-2. They will enter the national tournament as the No. 2 seed. This year marks the sixth consecutive national tournament appearance for the women’s soccer team.
Women’s Soccer Head Coach Dan Hill thanks the students, faculty, staff and community supporters in attendance at the sendoff event. SSC President Lana Reyolds, Board of Regents Chair Curtis Morgan, SSC Educational Foundation Chair Mark Schell, Student Government Association President Adisen Williamson and SSC Booster Club President Dillon Robinson also spoke at the event, wishing the team well on their competition.
As the women’s soccer team departed campus, the bus busted through a banner with notes of encouragement from the campus community, as a crowd of supporters cheered. The national tournament will begin with pool play, a round-robin format where teams are divided into groups and compete. SSC will face Daytona State College at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17, followed by a matchup against Cowley County Community College at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19. The top team in the pool will advance to the next stage of the tournament.
