Seminole State College’s Boren Library has launched a new laptop loan program to assist students with their technology needs. With a growing number of students enrolling in online or hybrid courses due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the College wanted to offer the program to remove a financial barrier that students may face. The devices were purchased with funds SSC received from the federal CARES Act.

Seminole State College held an N95 mask fitting for employees Thursday afternoon and will hold a second session on Jan. 13 in the Enoch Kelly Haney Center’s Utterback Ballroom. The masks were made available to all employees through a second round of COVID-19 federal funds dispersed to the College in late 2020.

Seminole State College classes are scheduled to begin Monday, Jan. 11. Special extended office hours will take place in an effort to provide students extra time to enroll for the 2021 spring semester. While classes begin Jan. 11, students may enroll for the spring semester through Jan. 15. Extended enrollment hours will be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4 through Thursday, Jan. 7; 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 8; and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9. Students are encouraged to come register for classes before the spring semester begins.

Seminole State College recently hired Brooks Nickell as its new Web and Multimedia Coordinator. Nickell graduated from Davenport High School. Seminole State College employees recently provided gifts to 30 children participating in the Angel Tree programs sponsored by the Salvation Army and the Oklahoma Department of Human Services. The Angel Tree program connects donors with children in need. SSC employees purchased clothing and toys and donated the items. Seminole State College Assistant Professor of Life Sciences Susan Walker will retire at the conclusion of the fall semester.
