Seminole State College students recently attended “Understanding Disabilities in the Workplace,” a career development program presented by South Central Industries Executive Director Tina Hanna. The event was sponsored by Student Support Services and STEM Student Support Services.
“The workplace – and the workforce – is always changing and we need to learn to change with it. Presentations like this one show that diversity and inclusivity are necessary for progress. I am so pleased to know that an organization like South Central Services exists – and exists in Oklahoma,” SSS Advisor Megan Goff said.
Students in attendance gained a greater knowledge of educational and occupational opportunities for individuals with disabilities, advocating for self and others regarding disabilities and the types of services provided to individuals with disabilities by South Central Industries.
“During the presentation, I learned that there is technology that can assist in helping people with disabilities complete their jobs,” Ashley Pearson, a sophomore Computer Science major from Shawnee, said.
