Concert pianist Dr. Peter Simon will entertain area residents at a free public concert Thursday, Nov. 8 on Seminole State College’s campus. The “Music and Poetry of Love” program will begin at 7 p.m. in the Utterback Ballroom of the Enoch Kelly Haney Center. The event is sponsored by the SSC Educational Foundation. SSC Educational Foundation Employee Receives NextGen Under 30 Honor
Autumn Wiles, Seminole State College Educational Foundation Advancement Coordinator, has been named among the 2018 NextGen Under 30 honorees.
NextGen Under 30 selected 267 winners, across 15 categories, from more than 1,000 nominees. Wiles was selected as an honoree in the Adult and Higher Education category.
In addition to her role with SSC’s Educational Foundation, Wiles serves as the Seminole Lions Club President-Elect and chairs the organization’s fundraising committee. SSC Supporters Attend Regional Legislative Tour
Supporters of Seminole State College were guests at the Southeast Oklahoma Legislative Tour hosted by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education last week in McAlester.
Dr. Glen D. Johnson, Chancellor of the Oklahoma State System of Higher Education, met with the group of area legislators and friends of higher education to discuss the importance of higher education in improving the economy and business climate of the state. SSC Foundation Receives $75,000 Donation for New Baseball Complex

SSC Foundation Receives $50,000 Masonic Endowment
The Seminole State College Educational Foundation received a $50,000 Presidential Leadership and Cultural Programming endowment from the Masonic Charity Foundation of Oklahoma during a special presentation on Monday.
This donation will help provide leadership opportunities for students at the College – specifically members of the President’s Leadership Class. The PLC program was established at Seminole State College over a decade ago. The two-year scholarship program provides approximately 40 to 45 students with unique educational, cultural, volunteer and leadership opportunities. Throughout the year, they are able to meet with state leaders, learn about state government and philanthropy, study leadership styles and participate in community volunteer work.

SSC Foundation Receives Donation Valued at Over One Million Dollars
The Seminole State College Educational Foundation received a donation at the end of 2017 valued at over one million dollars – one of the largest gifts in the organization’s history. This large real estate donation was given by the family of Roger and Pam Parks of Parks Manufacturing, founders of Blue Wave Boats, currently located in Seminole, Okla.
The real estate graciously donated to the SSC Foundation is located in Checotah, Okla. and was the original manufacturing facility of Blue Wave Boats, a company managed and developed by Roger and Pamela Parks and operated along with their two sons, Steven and Richard. The donated area features roughly 20-acres of land, including a large office building and roughly 60,000 square feet of factory buildings. The Parks family donation will be placed in a special fund to be named the Parks Family Community Fund, which will be used for projects that support the educational mission of the Foundation, while also helping to develop educational and community activities involving or supported by Seminole State College.
