Seminole State College sophomore Jaxon Cooper, of Prague, was recently named the Outstanding Health Sciences student for the 2019-2020 academic year. The Seminole State Educational Foundation honors one student from each of the College’s five divisions at its annual Spring Recognition Banquet. Due to restrictions on large gatherings in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, this year’s event has been postponed, but each student will be recognized at a later date. Student Chases College Rodeo Dreams at SSC
Some people mark time by the places they’ve lived, by the vehicles they’ve driven. Kimberly Cotter, a sophomore at Seminole State College, marks time by the horses she’s owned.

SSC Students Tour Four-Year University Campuses
Several Seminole State College students recently toured Oklahoma State University in Stillwater and the University of Oklahoma in Norman with the Student Support Services (SSS) and STEM Student Support Services (STEM SSS) Projects. The purpose of the trip was for students to tour the campus, meet with transfer admissions counselors, and learn about scholarships and financial aid. SSC Art Department Receives Kiln Donation

The Art Department at Seminole State College was recently gifted a brand-new kiln for the college’s ceramics program. SSC student Sandra Ward of Seminole donated a new electric L & L Kiln to the college in an effort to help replace aging equipment. “The donation was met with enthusiasm and much appreciation. Our students are very thankful for the new kiln and are excited to be able to fire their pottery in the upcoming Fall 2020 semester,” said Assistant Professor of Art Angela Church.
SSC Hosts Financial Aid Chow Down
The Seminole State Financial Aid Department recently teamed up with the Student Support Services (SSS) and STEM Student Support Services (STEM SSS) grants to provide “Chow Down with Financial Aid.” The informal event was provided in a relaxed atmosphere so students could have informational dialogue with financial aid staff. Pizza was provided to the students after a brief presentation about the best practices for applying for scholarships. More specific practices that were discussed included establishing references, citing activities, perusing legitimate web sites and reviewing the SSC scholarship application.
