SSC Talent Search Students Attend “MJ” Musical

Seventy SSC Talent Search/FOCUS students, staff, and volunteers enjoyed dinner together and attended the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical “MJ” at the Oklahoma City Civic Center on Oct. 5. The musical tells the story of Michael Jackson’s life and career, focusing primarily on his preparations for the 1992 Dangerous world tour. The Talent Search Central and West Projects are 100% federally funded in the amounts of $388,326 and $277,375 annually. SSC Educational Foundation Trustees Donate Utility Vehicles to Sports Complex

Three utility vehicles were recently donated for use at the Brian Crawford Memorial Sports Complex by two SSC Educational Foundation Trustees. The golf carts will be used to shuttle guests with mobility limitations across the seven-field complex.

SSC Educational Foundation Trustee Jim Hardin and his wife retired SSC English Instructor Dr. Donna Hardin donated a John Deere Gator utility vehicle. The vehicle will be utilized to move equipment around the complex.

Students Explore Educational Opportunities at SSC Transfer Fair

Seminole State College hosted a College Transfer Fair on Oct. 2. Students were able to speak with representatives from East Central University, Northeastern State University, the University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, Oklahoma Baptist University, Southern Nazarene University, University of Central Oklahoma, University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, Grand Canyon University, Oklahoma City University and the U.S. Air Force.

SSC to Host Military and Veteran Resource Fair

Seminole State College will host its second annual Military and Veteran Resource Fair on Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Utterback Ballroom, located inside the Enoch Kelly Haney Center. The event is free and open to the public.

The fair will feature more than 40 local and regional organizations dedicated to assisting active military members, veterans and their dependents. Attendees will have access to a wide range of services, including benefits information, healthcare resources, education claims and more.

The Seminole State College Native American Serving Non-Tribal Institution’s (NASNTI) federal grant program hosted “The Methods of AI in Preserving and Revitalizing Native American Languages” symposium on Sept. 26. Deidre Holmberg (pictured) delivered the event’s keynote with a presentation on generative AI and education. Holmberg is the Principal Tech Education Strategist at Amazon Web Services.

SSC Board of Regents Review Bids for Campus Projects

The Seminole State College Board of Regents reviewed bids for the institution’s sidewalk and drainage repairs, as well as a secured motor pool parking lot at their special meeting on Sept. 24.

Prior to the discussion of business items, President Lana Reynolds spoke about personnel changes, reported on enrollment numbers and presented SSC’s 2024 Annual Report publication to members of the Board. The Annual Report encapsulates the achievements, milestones, community partnerships and endeavors undertaken by the College over the past year. Mobile Petting Zoo Makes Stop at SSC

The Little Bitty Acres Mobile Petting Zoo brought a wide variety of animals to Seminole State College on Sept. 18. Students and employees interacted with the animals in the courtyard outside of the E.T. Dunlap Student Union. The event was hosted by SSC Campus and Activities.
