Ten Seminole State College sophomores in the Seminole State College President’s Leadership Class received awards recognizing their completion of two years in the scholarship program on April 29. Members enjoyed a luncheon with SSC President Lana Reynolds and Director of Community Relations and PLC sponsor Kim Pringle to celebrate the occasion. The program helps students develop leadership skills through educational classroom and extra-curricular activities. Responsibilities of members include volunteering for the community and assisting with campus events. SSC Talent Search Experiences the Magic of Harry Potter Concert
One hundred and four SSC Talent Search/FOCUS students, staff, and volunteers enjoyed dinner together at Logan’s Roadhouse and attended Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in Concert at the OKC Civic Center on April 26. The Talent Search Central and West Projects are 100% federally funded in the amounts of $388,326 and $277,375 annually. SSC to Host Lloyd Simmons Field Dedication Ceremony
Seminole State College will host the dedication ceremony of Lloyd Simmons Field on May 3 at 5:30 p.m. at the Brian Crawford Memorial Sports Complex. Admission to the field dedication and the subsequent Trojan baseball game at 6:00 p.m. will be free for all attendees.
Beginning in October of 2023, Trojan baseball alumni spearheaded efforts to commemorate Simmons by raising funds to name SSC’s home field in his honor. Simmons, whose coaching tenure spanned from 1976 to 2001 and 2012-2016, won 1,804 games. He led 13 teams to the NJCAA College World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado, and 43 of his former players made it to Major League Baseball.

The Seminole State College Educational Foundation hosted its 29th Annual Spring Banquet on Thursday, April 25 in the Enoch Kelly Haney Center on campus. More than 400 people were in attendance.
The event serves as a major fundraiser for the foundation. This year’s event raised over $45,000, which will go directly to student scholarships.

Seven Seminole State College students were recently inducted into the Mu Alpha Theta honor society. Originally founded in 1957 at the University of Oklahoma, the honor society recognizes excellence in the study of mathematics. - The commencement ceremony is first come first serve seating. Overflow will be directed to the Jeff Johnston Fine Arts center where the commencement livestream will be playing.
- We kindly ask that family and friends remain seated for the whole ceremony as to not interrupt or block the view from other attendees.
- Graduate Check-in location: South end of Raymond Harber Field House. You must be there no later than 9:30 AM and you will be directed on where to line up after you check-in. Office staff will let you know when the procession will begin to the gymnasium.
- Graduates and family members can pre-register with a non-school email address for notifications and ordering of photos after the ceremony by scanning the QR code below.
Seminole State College will hold its 91st Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 3, for students completing coursework requirements for their degree programs. The graduation ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. inside the Raymond Harber Field House on campus.

The Seminole State College Aggie Club hosted its sixth annual SSC FFA Interscholastic Contest on April 11.
Nearly 1,100 students from 100 schools across the state of Oklahoma participated in the event. Students competed in a variety of contests – Ag Mechanics, Animal Science Quiz Bowl, Milk Quality and Products, Electricity, 8th Grade Quiz Bowl, Employment Skills, Entomology, Environmental and Natural Resources, Floriculture, Homesite Evaluation, Land Judging, Soil and Water Management, Turfgrass Management and Veterinary Science.

Seminole State College welcomed faculty, staff, students and the local community to immerse themselves in the world of art at the “SSC, the Arts and Me” event on April 17. Taking place at the Cooks Commons and the Boren Library, the event showcased the creativity of SSC students and local artists.
Attendees had the opportunity to view and purchase a diverse selection of artwork, ranging from paintings to sculptures.

Trojan Softball Coach Amber Flores was honored on April 18 for her recent 500th career win at Seminole State College.
On Saturday, April 6, Flores won her 500th game at the helm of the SSC program. The 4 -1 win against Eastern Oklahoma State in Wilburn brought her overall record at Seminole to 500 wins against 104 losses.
In recognition of this milestone a pre-game presentation was held prior to the Trojans facing the Connors State Cowgirls Thursday afternoon at the SSC home field. Participating in the ceremony at home plate were SSC Athletic Director Leslie Sewell, owner of the OKC Spark professional women’s softball team Tina Floyd, SSC President Lana Reynolds and Chair of the SSC Board of Regents Kim Hyden.
