Author to Host Poetry Workshop at SSC

The Seminole State College Business and Industry program will host a poetry writing workshop led by published author Paul Juhasz on April 20 on SSC’s campus.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Room 101 of Tanner Hall. The cost to enroll in the workshop is $49.

Juhasz is an Assistant Professor of English at SSC and a Pushcart nominated author of five books: “Fulfillment: Diary of a Warehouse Picker,” a mock journal chronicling his seven-month term as a picker at an Amazon Fulfillment Center; “As If Place Matters,” a collection of short fiction; and three collections of poetry: “Ronin: Mostly Prose Poems,” a finalist for the 2022 Oklahoma Book Award, “The Inner Life of Comics,” and “The Fires of Heraclitus.”

He has been featured at the Southwest Popular and American Culture Conference, Scissortail Creative Writing Festival, the Woody Guthrie Festival, the Chikaskia Literary Festival, and the South-Central Modern Language Association Conference in Poet’s Corner.

Juhasz began working at the College in the fall of 2021. His duties on campus include teaching composition and American literature. He also serves as co-sponsor of the Sigma Kappa Delta honor society.

He received his bachelor’s degree in English Literature from the University of Illinois, his master’s degree in English Literature from Illinois State University and his master of fine arts degree from Oklahoma City University.
