SSC to Host Constitution Day Event

Seminole State College will host its annual Constitution Day event on Sept. 17 at 1 p.m. in the lecture hall located just inside the Enoch Kelly Haney Center. This year’s event will feature the game show Constitution Jeopardy.

Students will compete head-to-head, answering trivia questions centered on the Constitution, the framers, the Declaration of Independence, the Bill or Rights and more. Social Sciences Division Chair and Professor of Government Jeffrey Christiansen will host the competition.

“This will be a fun and engaging program where attendees can share in the celebration of our country’s founding document, our shared history and our American citizenship,” Christiansen said.

Additionally, the SSC Student Government Association will have a voter registration table set up in the Haney Center foyer. All attendees will also receive a free pocket-sized Constitution.

Constitution Day commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787, and the day honors those who have become U.S. citizens. Publicly funded educational institutions celebrate the day by providing educational programming about the history of the founding document.
