New Regent Appointed to SSC Board

Governor Kevin Stitt has appointed Teresa Burnett to serve as a Regent for Seminole State College. Her appointment was confirmed by the Oklahoma State Senate Education Committee on May 21. Pending full approval on the Senate floor, she will be sworn in at the July meeting of the SSC Board of Regents.

“We look forward to working with her at Seminole State College,” SSC President Lana Reynolds said. “She brings not only a unique perspective but also a personal connection to our institution.”

Burnett operates Drama Club Connection in Shawnee, which helps children learn how to effectively communicate through the arts. She and her husband, Brad, reside in Shawnee. Brad Burnett serves as the Vice President for Enrollment Management at Oklahoma Baptist University.

Three of Teresa Burnett’s children graduated from SSC, and each went on to earn their bachelor’s degree and one completed a master’s degree.

“I am honored to be a Regent at Seminole State College and look forward to serving. I am a dedicated advocate of students continuing their education beyond high school,” Burnett said. “I look forward to helping students achieve their academic goals for successful entry into the workforce or to continue their education in the pursuit of a higher degree.

Burnett will replace current SSC Board of Regents Chair Kim Hyden of Prague. Hyden will be completing her seven-year term on the Board at the end of June.

“We thank Regent Hyden for her exemplary service to the Board and the institution. She has been a tireless worker and staunch supporter of faculty and staff, student organizations and athletic teams, as well as a strong financial supporter of the SSC Educational Foundation. She will be missed,” President Reynolds said.
