The Seminole State College GEAR UP project is a GEAR UP Partnership Grant. Partnership grants are funded on the basis of working together with the schools, families, students, and communities to encourage and prepare more students to obtain a post-secondary education. Consequently, “partnership grants” reach out to businesses and organizations to assist in providing services to the schools and students.
GEAR UP grantees are required to raise part of the cost of operating the project from non-federal sources. Generally, the Partnership’s non-federal contribution must at least match the federal contribution by equaling at least 50 percent of the total six- or seven-year project cost (defined as federal award + non-federal match). This is often articulated as a dollar-for-dollar match.
By helping with the “MATCH,” Seminole State College GEAR UP Partners are integral to the success of the project.
